Maybe it’s the difference in years or maybe it’s because he’s so thin and seems to have endless amounts of energy.  Who knows but he’s not looking like he’s tired or anything.

I like Obama.  But, I guess you knew that.

Take the hanging of Husein. They even show it on the news – I’ve had to cover my eyes to keep from vomiting. It’s beyond words. You can hardly visit a website that doesn’t have the entire thing for download. Needless to say, that’s not something I’ve done nor could ever do. However, there was a picture of him dead that I couldn’t miss because it was right there. How did I get to that website? I followed a link to a question on how to create a static front page for my site.

The other day I had written about the “killing of the four sisters”. They weren’t people. They were smoke stacks affectionately known as “The Four Sisters”. After that posts, it was the first time I found links to my site. The very first time.

And we think we’re better than animals. No we’re not. We are the animals. We humans are Mother Nature’s big mistake.

God help us all.

Instead they met fierce resistance. Surprised? I think those bastards were.
Arabs are an old and proud people. Their culture and history are well embedded into their psyche. They’ve been invaded many times over the eons and have learned from each invasion. No amount of heavy machinery and devastation from the sky will dampen their mood. They are united in one religion although fragmented to some degree – no different than Christians.

Those greedy bastards from USA and Britain have caused a horrendous situation. The fault lies squarely with Bush and company. His lapdog Blair is only a pathetic hanger-on with dreams of oil money. Bush is a war criminal, plain and simple but will never have to pay for his criminal actions, at least not in this life.

It is about time the US started to make some friends. Their school yard bullying is not working and is putting their citizens at great risk as was demonstrated by 911. No amount of airport screening, wall building, colour-coded alerts and homeland security will help if they don’t drop their obnoxious behaviour towards those outside their borders. And the more they push, the harder the rest of them will push back.

Oh, so it took all those “brains”, months to figure out what to do in Iraq? Gee, it took me all of 30 seconds to figure it out before they even invaded. The best thing for them to do right now is to pull out this instance. Yesterday would have been better. Never to have invaded in the first place would have been best.

But they won’t pull out just like that because now they are in a “face saving” mode.

Remember poor old Nixon and his “peace with honour”. Yeah, that worked.

So, my heart cries for all those innocent lives ruined. American soldiers as well as Iraqis.

There were only poor Americans that joined the military. I will bet that not one middle class soldier is among the troops. When they were recruited, they were painted blue skies. How great their life will be. All the money they’ll get from the government. All the free education. A chance for a better life.

How sad is that? For many, their lives are gone. For countless others, their lives are ruined. Missing limbs, shattered psyches. No person can murder another and another without it having an effect on their conscience.

There is now fear that the war will spread throughout the Middle East.  I’m a bit more optimistic.  As long as the foreigners get out and get out fast, I’m betting that won’t happen.
Such a waste of life and to what end? The oil greed for a privileged few? These monsters must pay. I believe in retribution and it comes when you least expect it.

I have to feel that when my days on this planet are over, and I find myself with the choice of doing it all over again right here or moving on - I’ll be moving on.  I can’t stand any more of the constant war, murder, families ripped apart.  It’s nauseating, to say the least. 

Something that nobody seems to mention is that Canada didn’t have to go to war.  It was never attacked.  It had no enemies.  Canada got suckered into the wars by Great Britain.  Oh yes, they turned to their colonies to provide backup of men, material and sustenance.  At home, Canadians were on food rations the durations of both wars.

So on this day and this month, let us remember never to be suckered into any wars by anyone.  Let us remain neutral, mind our own business and cater to our own population to keep every man, woman and child safe.

Oh, and on this day, I will do my best to find a white peace poppy to wear.  This shows no disrespect to fallen soldiers everywhere.  It is a sign and hope that such senseless killings will stop.  And at 11AM, I will remember my fallen father who died in the line of duty, fighting for Germany.

US foreign policy slays me.  Why do they have to have one, anyway?  Why does any country have to have a foreign policy?  I mean, except for the one that you stay out of other countries’ business.  And speaking of business, why can’t we do business with anyone and everyone?

What annoys people about the US is their audacity to think they can butt into everyone’s business. Their audacity to think they know best and know what’s best for the rest of us.  Meanwhile, their own country is in dire need of leadership and kindness, a national health system, safe streets and neighbourhoods.  Instead, it’s an “every man for himself” kind of system.  Wouldn’t it have been nice if the money spent razing Iraq were spent on creating a humane health system, help the disadvantaged to get out of the rut they’re in?

Seems that every adult owns a gun and is happy to remind us that it is in their constitutional right.  So what?  That was then and this is now.  When the Constitution was written, there was no army, just a rag-tag group of guys, each one with his own weapon.  But I digress.

I can’t believe that it’s impossible to be a good neighbour or friend.  We may not have the same opinions about certain issues but can’t we just agree to disagree?  Why point fingers and call names like “axis of evil”?  Who died and made Bush God?

What are our Canadian soldiers doing in Afghanistan?  Why are we losing some almost every day?  What’s in it for us?  What is the game plan?  Who is this idiot, Hillier?  Why are we fighting and what do we hope to gain?

If you want to answer that, please don’t annoy me with drivel about democracy or the bad Taliban.  I’ve heard enough to make me throw up every time I hear the d or T word.  We should keep our noses clean and mind our own business.  If we’re worried about security, then we could use these young men right here at home to keep our borders safe, not somewhere in some unknown land pretending to be important and shooting at people they don’t know and who have never done us any harm.  Shame on Martin, shame on Harper, shame on Hillier.  You should all rot in hell.

I saw this on CNN.  It was an interview with Wolf Blitz, I think is his name.  You know, the one with the monotone voice and the close cropped beard.  While interviewing a politician, Wolf aired a news clip where another media type asked this politician if his mother is Jewish. At first he was outraged that such a question should even be asked  (He should have stuck to that). He quoted the Constitution about freedom of religion etc.  Then he said that she was born a Jew but raised a Christian. 

Wolf turned off the news clip and returned to the interview.  The politician spoke and told this story.  At a dinner last week, he asked his mother if the rumours of her being Jewish were true.  She said yes but went on to say that she is a Christian. 

Now, I don’t know about you but to me it sounded about as phony as it gets.  Where would a guy not know these things unless he was taken away at birth and just met his mom for the first time last week? 

First of all, who gives a damn?  Canadians would not give it a second thought.  Religion is not important to us.  This has nothing to do with any laws or constitutions – it’s just how we are.  Hell, we even elected and re-elected a gay politician.  He didn’t make it a secret and none of us cared.  He even helped with an assisted suicide.  I, for one, thought it was really brave of him to do that.

Next case: Another American politician, on stage with his wife and daughter, made it known that he had an affair with another man.  Oh, and that it was wrong.  I always get a kick out of the use of the “wrong” word.  He went on to say that he has the most wonderful wife and daughter.  And then he went on the usual “this is the best country in the world” routine.  Yawn.  Have they looked at what’s going on in their back yards?  Why do they always say that?  Maybe they are encouraged to repeat those platitudes in order to keep the brainwashing going.  God, it’s irritating.

Now, what do you want to bet, those two guys will not win their seats?  They – the commentators - will claim it’s not because one was Jewish and the other gay, but because they lied about it.  Now, where have I heard that one before?  The sad part is – why they felt they had to lie about it.  How is their religion or sexual preference anyone’s business?

But, what do I know?  I’m only a crazy Canuck.

I turned on the television to CNN.  The screen was full of smoke and debris flying and people running about in panic mode.  It was terrible.  My step-son was living two blocks from the World Trade Centre at that time.  I tried to call him but all lines were either busy or down.  His father was beside himself.  (My step-son called much later that same afternoon.  He was fine.)  I won’t bore you with the rest.  You’ve seen and heard it a million times.

In my sadness and grief, I wanted to buy an American flag to hang outside our door.  None were to be had.  Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who wanted to do this. 

Time passed.  What I thought was going to be a covert attack to track down the villan, to my surprise, became a military attack bombing the crap out of the Afghanistan countryside.  That didn’t make a lot of sense to me but what do I know, right?  Then, all of a sudden, it’s all Hussain’s fault.  What the hell.  Am I missing something?  Next thing you know, they’re at the UN showing kindergarten diagrams and fuzzy pictures and are holding them up like it was some kind of proof that Hussain was behind it and was planning a big attack.  It smelled rotten to me but what do I know, right?

It is now 5 years later and they have nothing.  No weapons.  No huge arsenal with which to attack the West.  Nothing.  But only God knows how many Iraqis were killed.  I cry for them.  They are a proud people.  They are a clannish people.  And still B&B (Bush and Blair) are trying to make us believe that they did a good thing.  I’m furious and frustrated because myself and others like me are powerless to do anything about it.  But, if there really is a universal law somewhere in the cosmos, they will pay for it in ways we cannot imagine.  If there isn’t, we will just have to lump it.

Am I the only one that thinks it’s odd that 911 happened?  Do you think it’s odd that such professional videos were taken from almost the get-go?  I find it strange.  Had they been the jiggly, grainy videos typical of amateur camcorders, I could believe it.  But they were professional.  Beautiful.  From all angles.  Like it was staged.  For Bush and his cronies, it gave them carte blanche to do anything they wanted under the guise of security. They can listen to your conversations, read your emails, arrest you on any trumped up charges – or no charges, for that matter.  They can line each others pockets happily without any interference.  Man, they got it made in the shade.  As for bin Laden, do you really believe he’s hiding in some cave?  Not a chance.  He is safely ensconsed in the bossom of his family.  He’s probably dining with the Bush’s whenever they visit Saudi Arabia.
